AWS purchase and process large quantities of mixed plastic bottles. Typically the post consumer bottles are generated when segregated from kerbside collection waste streams and bring banks.

Indicated below is the typical Mixed Plastic Botttle specification we would expect to see for material purchased for processing at our Hemswell plant.

35-45% PET bottles -                   Mainly clear and blue tint but also a percentage of 
                                                  green, heavy blue and other coloured Pet bottles.

5-10% Other Plastics -                 Bottles other than HDPE and PET ie ketchup and 
                                                   shampoo bottles.  Also permissible are non bottle 
                                                   plastics such as butter and yoghurt pots, mushroom
                                                   and strawberry punetts, trays etc

0.5 - 1%    Out Throw -                Any material other than plastic such as paper,
                                                  cardboard, metal, wood and general refuse.

 

5-10% Coloured HDPE Bottles -   Mainly detergent bottles

The equipment at Hemswell allows for accurate analysis of incoming material. All loads are checked for quality and ongoing prices paid reflect the quality of the incoming material.  

40-50% Natural HDPE Bottles -    Milk Bottles
